The world's largest trade fair for buses and coaches, Busworld Kortrijk, will take place from 16 to 21 October 2015. Mayser will take this opportunity to present its capacitive protection system ‘Non-Touch Detection’ for bus doors for the first time. An additional innovation presented in conjunction with proven Mayser Obstacle Detection Systems is Mayser RoadFR, a flame-retardant cable specially developed for bus applications.
Ulm, 18 August 2015 - Automatic vehicle doors can present a hazard to passengers boarding and alighting. With its innovative protection systems that minimise the risk of accidents and injuries caused by power operated vehicle doors, Mayser is a long-established supplier of reliable Obstacle Detection and Drag Detection systems. Tactile sensors such as electric Safety Edges for door edges react to touch or pressure. They are used in buses and trains worldwide as reliable, robust Obstacle Detection Sensors, and the number of vehicles equipped with Mayser sensors is increasing continuously.
With the innovative Non-Touch Detection System, the expert in vehicle door safety now also offers a non-contact protection system. If a passenger or another conductive object approaches the active zone of the sensor, its electrical field changes. The movement of the door is stopped by a corresponding signal to the door control before the door can touch the passenger. Neither rain nor snow, leaves that blow into the vehicle or bags placed in the way can influence the reliable function of the Non-Touch Detection System.
The certified safety of Mayser products now also extends to fire protection: In compliance with the requirements of ECE-R 118 relating to fire behaviour of materials and components in commercial vehicles, Mayser developed a flame-retardant cable designated Mayser RoadFR. The cable is optionally available in a version suitable for cable carriers.
