When the pictures of the earthquake catastrophe in the Turkish-Syrian border region went around the world at the beginning of February, the desire to help was also great at Mayser. A fundraising campaign initiated by Petra Schleicher, Head of Product & Sales in the headwear division, raised more than 800 euros. The donation box in front of the Hat Museum on the occasion of Hat Day as well as Mayser employees and customers, who were able to purchase merchandising articles such as beer mugs, ashtrays and porcelain coasters in exchange for a donation, contributed to this.
The donation was almost doubled by the management of the Lindenberg company, so that Petra Schleicher was able to hand over an amount of 1,500 euros to humedica e.V. on May 25.
humedica, a German aid organization based in Kaufbeuren, has been carrying out humanitarian work worldwide since 1979, focusing on disaster relief and medical care.
The earthquake on February 6 in the Turkish-Syrian border region is considered one of the worst natural disasters of the last hundred years. Help is still urgently needed in the affected region, where reports indicate that more than 57,000 people lost their lives and more than two million people lost their homes.
We would like to thank all donors who have contributed to the relief efforts in the disaster area.
