Mayser at Education Fair “Bildungsmesse 2018” in Ulm

Trade fair booth provided info on training opportunities and offered additional activities

With 45,000 visitors, the education fair in Ulm is one of the most important regional events for acquiring young employees. Mayser successfully presented the image of an innovative company with appeal as a modern training company.

Training at Mayser means involvement in interesting projects from the very start, as well as the ability to demonstrate personal initiative and to take on responsibility. The education fair itself is such a project, which is organised by the trainees at Mayser. The apprentices are present during the fair so they can provide information to visitors at eye level. A concept that was well received. “Our apprentices were highly motivated and did a good job,” says Ralf Michael, Director of Training at the Ulm location. “We were able to present the image of an innovative company, to take part in many interesting discussions and to establish promising contacts.”

A crowd-puller at the company’s booth was the race track that was set up by the apprentices under the supervision of the instructors. It illustrated to the visitors how Mayser products work. Afterwards, the fastest drivers were allowed to spin a wheel of fortune and to win Amazon or Netflix vouchers. There was also a robot that allowed visitors to try out Mayser safety technology in playful collaboration between man and machine. The robot tool was manufactured by the apprentices themselves. “We are very pleased with the increased interest in technical careers,” says Ralf Michael. “For example, we talked to several visitors about our job for the future: process engineer.” Stefan Groer, Director of Human Resources at the Ulm location, was likewise enthusiastic. “We were able to interest several students who had no clear idea about their future careers in the opportunities for an apprenticeship at Mayser. The feedback on our booth was also very positive.”

In addition, Laura Bleher, an apprentice in her 3rd year, gave a short presentation on the occupation of process engineer for plastic and rubber technology. Stefan Groer also offered to check applications at the “applicants’ island”.
