Youth development is of great importance at Mayser
Mayser has supported students of the Ulm University of applied science with the Germany Scholarship for two years. This has been awarded throughout Germany since 2011 to entrants and students, whose background leaves one to expect outstanding performances in study and profession.
Every Germany Scholarship is financed jointly by the Federal Government and private sponsors and is awarded independent of income or BAföG benefits. In the academic year 2015/2016 the Ulm University of applied science was able to award altogether 52 scholarships. One of these scholarships is financed by Mayser.
“We like to reward performance”, stated Winfried Wanka, Member of the Executive Board HR & Legal. “When we are able to contribute our part in enabling a young person to exploit his or her potential, we are delighted. It corresponds with our Mayser philosophy: Learning together and in a team.” The company invests a lot in youth development, besides numerous apprenticeships it also offers internships, places for working students and – in close cooperation with universities, colleges and technician schools – work-related dissertation topics. Apart from that, Mayser is a partner of the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University, which besides specialist knowledge, offers students of the industrial engineering course the possibility to acquire a high standard of practical experience and social competence.
In the case of the Germany Scholarship, it is important to Mayser that the selection is made by the university and besides good grades, the willingness to accept responsibility and commit oneself is also a selection criterion. “We need people who can think outside the box with creativity and enjoyment and are able to develop future-oriented products from comprehensive experience”, said Winfried Wanka.
The focus of Mayser is on the promotion of the technical degree courses, such as Information Management, Automotive or Industrial Engineering. “We are an attractive and innovative company with a high number of applicants. That is a positive development. We are naturally delighted when our commitment can motivate talented people in the region to submit an application”, confirmed Stefan Groer, HR Manager at the Ulm site.
