At the InnoTrans, the International Trade Fair for Transport Technology, Mayser is presenting its range of safety systems for vehicle doors from 23 to 26 September 2014. The main focus this year is on the “Non-Touch Detection System”, ready for series production, which extends the proven tactile Obstacle Detection and Drag Detection Systems from Mayser for public local transport with a “non-touch” version.
Ulm, 4 August 2014 – The capacitive system, also known as
“Non-Touch Detection”, is the ideal addition to drag detection as per VDV 111 on automatically controlled vehicle doors. It serves as predictive jostling protection, a convenience function implemented directly on the main closing edge of the Mayser finger protection profiles. If a passenger or an object approaches the active zone of the sensor, the capacity of the electrical field changes. The movement of the door is stopped by a corresponding signal to the door control before the door can touch the passenger.
Two significant advantages in terms of passenger safety and trouble-free operation make the non-touch system a convincing solution for transport companies and door and vehicle manufacturers. Firstly, it prevents all forces from being exerted against passengers boarding and alighting by automatically closing vehicle doors. Secondly, in contrast to sensors such as light curtains or scanners, the technology on which the Non-Touch Detection system is based only influences the automatic closing movement of the door in the event of an immediate danger of trapping or jostling. Whereas the detection range of light curtains or scanners covers the complete entrance area, the Non-Touch Detection system only reacts to movements in the immediate critical area of the sensor, along the main closing edge.
The system is not susceptible to water. Unwanted detection is there-fore not caused by rain or snowfall, nor by leaves, extraneous light or dust.
