Sponsoring for the iBots team of the Neu-Ulm Lessing Secondary School
Supporting young people is a high priority at Mayser. The company especially likes to help regional groups that are interested in robotics. Like the iBots team that recently qualified for participation in the RoboCup 2017 in Nagoya, Japan. Congratulations to the team for taking second place in the category OnStage Secondary – Individual Team.
“We are glad to support young people who work creatively on new solutions for the future,” says Winfried Wanka, Member of the Executive Board - HR & Legal Department. “The creative concept of the robotics sponsoring group iBots convinced us.” Using state-of-the-art sensor technology, the iBots team retold the story of “Alice in Wonderland” as the basis for a game in which the characters of Alice, the Cheshire Cat, and the White Rabbit move across the board. The impressive features included automated playing cards and a Cheshire Cat with shining eyes and a rotating head. Of course, it is a story with a happy ending, because shrunken Alice is able to make it out of Wonderland with the help of the Rabbit and the Mad Hatter, not to mention the iBots team.
Support from Mayser made it possible for several students to participate in the RoboCup Junior World Championship 2017 in Nagoya, Japan. The team made a convincing appearance at the event. “Congratulations to the team for an outstanding second place in the category OnStage Secondary – Individual Team,” says Wanka. “It is nice to see that so many young people in the region are excited about robotics.”
